Aitkin County Economic Development awards over $21,000

Aitkin County’s commitment to strengthening local businesses and enhancing community vitality continues with the recent awarding of more than $21,000 through the
Aitkin County Business Development & Recreation Grant.

Funding was approved for community-based initiatives in Hill City, Palisade, McGregor, Tamarack and Aitkin — marking a significant investment in projects designed
to support small business activity, attract visitors and increase year-round recreational opportunities.

This grant program was created by the Aitkin County Board of Commissioners to foster economic development by leveraging public funds, private investment
and community engagement. It encourages collaboration among community organizations, civic leaders and local volunteers to bring forward creative
projects that benefit both residents and visitors.

Applicants were required to match county funds at a 1:1 ratio, demonstrating their commitment to the success and sustainability of their projects. This match ensures that
awarded grants serve as a catalyst for even greater local investment, strengthening the impact of every dollar awarded. The goal of this program is to empower our
local businesses and organizations to take the lead in growing their economic and recreational assets. Whether it’s helping launch a new event or supporting small businesses,
these funds are meant to elevate the great work already happening across the county.
Since its launch, the Business Development & Recreation Grant has received strong interest from organizations focused on improving quality of life and boosting
tourism throughout Aitkin County. This round of funding will help create or enhance events, marketing efforts and amenities that draw visitors while supporting
the local economy.

Each project selected for funding demonstrated clear goals, a strong community benefit and a commitment to long-term success. Aitkin County is proud to support these
