When you live and work in Aitkin County, you’ll be protected by the law enforcement officers of the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office and our local police departments in the cities of Aitkin, Hill City, and McGregor. They are dedicated to keeping our residents, property, and communities safe.
The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens and visitors across all 1,828 square miles of Aitkin County. The services include 9-1-1 call center, patrol division and a boat and water unit, a canine unit, planning for large-scale disasters in the county and much more.
The Aitkin Police Department continues to be ready to serve the public and keep them safe and informed. With officers staffed 24/7/365, they are ready to assist residents of the community and the surrounding area. In case of emergency, call 9-1-1.
The Hill City Police Department has 7 officers, plus a public safety officer. They have contributed to educating the youth of our community by teaching drug education in the schools by teaching D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) since 2006 in the Hill City School.
