SUMMARY:Riverwood's Lights of Love Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Since 1984\, the Riverwood Auxiliary has annually honored and memorialized the loved ones of area residents with the Lights of Love program\, including a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the lobby of the hospital. \nNames of loved ones for whom lights have been purchased are listed on a scroll located in the hospital lobby and on the electronic scrolling marquee until the end of the year. It is on the Riverwood website year-round. \nLights that decorate the tree can be purchased for $5 in honor or in memory of a loved one. Envelopes are available at the front desk in the lobby of the hospital or the hospital gift shop. These can be used for light purchase or a form can be printed online at www.river woodhealthcare.org/aboutus/ volunteer. Money raised will be used to fund special projects at Riverwood and fulfill the Auxiliary’s ongoing commitment to the health and well being of the community. The holiday season is a great time to recognize loved ones\, coworkers\, friends or anyone who has made a difference in your life. \nThe lighting ceremony will be held on Sunday\, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. in the hospital lobby. The public is invited to attend a short program\, including a musical selection and a reading of the scroll will take place. After the ceremony\, refreshments will be served.

With a wide array handcrafted items on display\, this event is a onestop shop for finding gifts for everyone on your list. \nThe Christmas Marketplace at the Jaques Art Center is decorated in the spirit of the season\, the items on display cover a broad spectrum of art forms\, many of which are not Christmas related. \nVisitors will discover artisan jewelry\, glasswork\, intricate wood carvings\, quilting\, cashmere mittens\, scented candles\, Christmas ornaments\, paintings\, sculptures\, flower arrangements and cards for every occasion. \n“In addition to the incredible array of art and craftsmanship\, the Jaques Art Center is thrilled to announce two special events during the Christmas Marketplace\,” said Jaques Executive Director Aubin Adjei. “Cider and donuts day and the annual Christmas Tea.” \nCider and donuts day will be held on Friday\, Nov. 24 from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.\, coinciding with Aitkin’s annual Fish House Parade. “We invite everyone to enjoy complimentary cider and donuts while getting out of the cold and browsing the unique items on display\,” said Adjei. \nThe annual Christmas Tea will be on Wednesday\, Dec. 6. “This year\, there will be only one tea event and tickets are selling fast\, with over half already gone. For those who miss out on tickets\, don’t worry; there is a waiting list in place to accommodate as many guests as possible\,” explained Adjei. \n  \nFor art enthusiasts and those eager to learn\, the Jaques will also offer a variety of classes in the coming months.
